The City and County of San Francisco’s Department of Public Works is a mature, project management organization that currently plans and tracks engineering costs within extremely tight guidelines.  When they were ready to move to the same level of control on the scheduling side, they turned to Primavera’s P3E platform.

Our Role
As experts in the implementation of project methodology and scheduling systems, Confoe was contracted to accelerate the implementation of world class business processes for their on-going project management needs.

During the initial phase, a prototype was developed using existing resource and cost data. Since costs were tracked on a weekly basis, we were able to extrapolate from historical timelines in order to create initial project plan schedule templates. The templates were then used to create project schedules for upcoming projects. 

Unique Challenge
In the initial phase, there was the requirement to limit the intervention of departmental resources and be strictly data driven. During subsequent phases, a departmental steering committee will be engaged to manage the roll out and change management issues with implementing a new system.
